Are you prepared?

We've seen many devastating natural disasters lately. Will Seattle be next with the "BIG" earthquake? Are you prepared? Do you have an emergency plan for your family? Now is the time to take action! The level of preparedness is up to you, but here's a few ideas: 1). Emergency kits. This one is from Amazon and it's stocked with basic, survival items. 2). Designate a gathering place. The City of Seattle has a map of official emergency "hubs" for people to gather incase of an emergency. Check here to find the one nearest you. 3). Shut off water and gas lines. Giving Back

As a home stager and interior stylist, my role is to enhance or transform the interior of a home by bringing in stylish furniture and accessories. I recently had an opportunity to be involved in decorating a low-income housing project for a family in need. I belong to a local chapter of RESA (Real Estate Staging Association) and we partnered with Girls Giving Back, a non-profit organization that transforms and supports the local shelter community. We had a one-day assignment to fully decorate and stock a home for a mom and her teen son. There was a lot of planning and prepping to do before the BIG day, but we completed our task and were able to take a home that was run down with barely an

Fall Frenzy

The August housing market data was released this week by the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. In King County, the median price of a single-family home saw an 18.2 percent price increase from a year ago. After record-breaking price increases in August and July, the Spring home-buying frenzy apparently didn't take a summer vacation. Although the "luxury" market (homes priced above $1.25 million) saw longer days on the market, competition remained fierce for homes below $1 million. Combined with low inventory, the buying frenzy doesn't show any signs of slowing down as we move further into Fall. If you're a buyer, make sure you're prepared (mentally and financially) to act quickly when

Fall is a Great Time to Sell

If you’re thinking about selling your home this Fall, we'll still be in a strong seller's market. Now’s the time to think about curb appeal. Once our summer heat starts to subside, and we get a few more days of rain, lawns will begin turning green again. Start replacing any dead plants with new ones and plant fall annuals. Be sure to schedule painters and window cleaners too. If you need help with your curb-appeal “to do” list, let us know! Click here to drop us a note. And speaking of curb appeal, see below for a fun way to jazz up your actual curb--Fan Curb Numbers!.

Smokin' Hot Summer

We literally experienced a smokin' hot summer and the Seattle-area housing market did too. According to new figures from Northwest Multiple Listing Service, home sales and prices sizzled! Prices area-wide rose slightly more than 9 percent from a year ago, but several counties near job centers saw larger price increases, including King County where the median price jumped 18.6 percent! The latest report confirmed what most buyers and brokers know: inventory shortages persist even though MLS members added slightly more new listings last month than the same period a year ago.

Inspiration for Your Life Style

Did you just move into a new home? Are you wanting to freshen up a space or room before you sell? Sometimes a small change can make a big impact. Repainting a room can take it from dull and outdated to fresh and current. This bathroom has a black accent wall which really enhances the mirror and light fixtures. Have you considered wallpaper? If the commitment factor of wallpaper is too high, consider installing it in a small space. This powder bathroom, designed by AugustTaylorDesign.com, is stunning because of the beautiful wallpaper!
